Works

[edit]

the translation of До свиданья, друг мой is appalling - very inaccurate and completely lacking in the stucture of the original. 212.159.59.5 (talk) 08:10, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this is poor translation and not a good representation of his poetry. This should be replaced by something else. My very best wishes (talk) 15:45, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Affairs

[edit]

There, he immediately became involved with actress Augusta Miklashevskaya and is believed to have married her in a civil ceremony after obtaining his divorce from Isadora Duncan. Yesenin's affair with Galina Benislavskaya ended tragically: a year after his death she committed suicide at his grave. - this needs clarification - there's only this one reference to Galina Benislavskaya = was yesenin's affair with her during his marriage to miklashevskaya? - J. Van Meter

The description of his personal life is very poor. My very best wishes (talk) 15:45, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Russian movie

[edit]

Someone should mention the Russian movie about his life, Esenin. I would, except that I do not know how to edit wikipedia pages.

Galina Benislavskaya was a GPU agent who was asked to "look after" the poet. She loved Esenin and apparently she did a lot to protect him from many dangers (13 criminal cases were initiated against Esenin with mediation of GPU) Esenin didn't enter into her feeling and she was only a dear friend to him. There are different films and documentaries about Esenin. - N.Trofimov

I think that the poster above was probably referring to the 2005 teleserial, there is a link to it from the Russian wikipage for Esenin.

Yes, this is good movie, and it certainly should be noted. It features the version that he was killed by NKVD agents (not a majority view by our rules). My very best wishes (talk) 15:45, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, one should definitely include Galina Benislavskaya. As about NKVD, I realize that the episode from the movie when Yakov Blumkin let him go was factual, although this must be properly sourced. My very best wishes (talk) 04:08, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Most Russian Poet Award

[edit]

The Nyemetskyiev Potemkin Society declared him in 1979 "Most Russian Poet". Due to the Siberianesque and Romunovskiey qualities of his work. Should this be mentioned in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.232.191.16 (talk) 18:19, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Where did Yesenin meet Duncan?

[edit]

In the article is written: In the fall of 1921, while visiting the studio of painter Alexei Yakovlev, he met the Paris-based American dancer Isadora Duncan. I'm reading a book of Carola Stern Isadora Duncan und Siergiej Jessenin, Der Dichter und die Tänzerin where it's said that the painter's name was Georgy Yakulow. Redone

[edit]

This page was very sloppy and unorganized, so I've reorganized a lot of the information and layout. I haven't changed much of the Bio, but I'd taken some irrelevant things out. -CamT|C 06:32, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Radunitsa

[edit]

In 1915, Yesenin published his first book of poems, Radunitsa (Russian: Радуница), soon followed by Ritual for the Dead (1916).

"Radunitsa" / "Радуница" is a Russian festival also known as the Ritual for the Dead. This is one work. Preobrazhenskiy (talk) 05:44, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Date of death

[edit]

Russian WP article says he died 28 December 1925. We say 27 December. Can we clarify this, please? -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 21:44, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Probably a mistake here. My very best wishes (talk) 15:45, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rating

[edit]

This was rated b-class, but I've re-rated it start-class. It does not meet the b-class standards as per Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment#grades guidelines. The article is not suitably referenced. The article does not reasonably cover the topic. The article is not "substantial", considering the importance of Yesenin and the number of sources available on him, or referenced, which would be required even for c-class. bad English

[edit]

Please take the source to somebody who knows its language (Russian, I guess) and English very well. There are problems with grammar, especially definite/indefinite articles, typical since Russian doesn't have them. 100.15.120.162 (talk) 21:12, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
